Branding Then and Now

Branding used to be simple. Your symbol was burned into a cow’s derrière with a long piece of metal you pulled from the fire. (Ever heard a cow scream? It’s not pretty.)

But times have changed, and so has branding. Unless you’re a cattle rancher, in which case you probably don’t need my services.

For the last decade, I’ve offered my talents as a strategist and wordsmith to a pioneer in SaaS HR Tech that achieved 100x revenue growth during my tenure.

I wrote hundreds of blog posts, articles, popular ebooks, and case studies. Grew our list to over 100k subscribers, produced two highly ranked podcasts, and developed the extraordinarily valuable HR Superstars sub-brand.

From there, I built the marketing communications function. Leading our PR efforts, I landed hundreds of media hits including in top tier outlets like The Wall Street Journal, Inc., and Business Insider (Yes, that’s me at Burning Man.)

I helped craft keynotes and a speaking strategy for our thought leaders and built a highly successful awards program that won culture, product, and growth awards, including Fast Company’s Most Innovative, a Gold Stevie, the coveted Great Places to Work® certification, and the Deloitte Fast 500.

I worked with leadership and investors to develop the strategy and narrative for three notable funding announcements, and crafted several iterations of our branding, messaging, and positioning.
